World of Wu-Yu
Bhatrati (BHA-tra-tee) (b. ZY1036) is a renowned Dwarven poet, scholar, and priest of Atmahan. His most famous works are two historical tomes, “The Purple Twilight”, which chronicles the decline of the Dwarven Empire, and “They Came On Horseback”, which gives a vivid account of the Orc conquest of the Empire. Both volumes posit the weakening of Dwarven morality (i.e. not the strength of Orc warriors), as the reason for decline and eventual defeat.
Bhatrati is something of a hero among those harboring anti-Imperial sentiment. His poems are popularly believed to conceal jabs at the Emperor’s person, though Bhatrati denies it. Young Dwarves and followers of the Tathatan religion hold him in especially high esteem. Emperor Hunun Gol offered him the title of Imperial High Poet, but Bhatrati turned it down, citing his own moral weakness as unworthy of such an honor.
